During this part of the year you can enjoy wonderful atmospheres and colours in Abruzzo, moreover thanks to this tour you will discover all its characteristic and traditional aspects: from the big Handicraft Market and Antique trade fair in centre of L’Aquila town to the performance of the Live Christmas Crib, together with a unique Statue Crib  inside the Stiffe grottoes. 

 

1st Day:

Arrival in Abruzzo late in the morning. Meeting with your tour guide and visit to L’Aquila, that has been for a meaningful period the ancient Abruzzi’s chief tow, moreover setting of several important historical events. You will see the imposing basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio Basilica, then the elegant church of San Bernardino da Siena Abbey and the unique 99 Sinks Fountain. Free lunch or on request in a restaurant. In the evening coming back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

 

2nd Day:

Breakfast in hotel. Free time for individual visit to the traditional Handicraft Market held in the centre of L’Aquila, which gathers almost 20.000 exhibitors coming from the other regions in Italy, even from Europe livening up the whole town. Free lunch or on request in a restaurant in L’Aquila .

In afternoon leaving by Gran Turismo coach to Rivisondoli, where you could attend the traditional Live Christmas Crib, in which many inhabitants of the village take part, performing the roles of the Nativity scene; in the end of this performance colourful firework will lighten up Rivisondoli. Dinner in a restaurant in the surroundings. Late in the evening coming back to the hotel and overnight stay.

 

3rd Day:

Breakfast in hotel. In the morning you will reach the Ski facilities ( 2.100 mt above sea level) by the Campo Imperatore cableway. Ski equipment for rental available. In the hotel of Campo Imperatore it is possible to visit the room in which Benito Mussolini was imprisoned for some days in 1943. In winter this hotel can be reached only by cableway. Free lunch or on request in the restaurant of the hotel.

In the afternoon coming back by cableway to Fonte Cerreto, where the bus is parked. You will continue the tour towards San Demetrio dei Vestini to visit the wonderful Stiffe Caves, calcareous grottoes endowed with a unique natural beauty, still in a developing phase and crossed by an underground water-stream. You will admire an original Crib which is set in the caves over Christmas. In the evening coming back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

 

4th Day:

Breakfast in hotel and leaving for the coming back.
